Some private schools not meeting standards given preparation period, strict enforcement from next academic year

Some private schools that do not meet the required school standards and criteria have been given the current academic year as a preparation period, said Union Minister Dr. Cho Cho Sein of the Ministry of Education. He made this statement at a meeting held on July 13 with representatives from the Private School Supervisory Committee, private colleges, international curriculum schools, and national curriculum schools. The Union Minister stated that some private schools that do not meet the prescribed school standards and criteria have been given the current academic year as a preparation period, and therefore, preparations must be completed by the next academic year. He also said that when opening schools, it is necessary to meet the prescribed number of classrooms and the size of the school grounds. To improve the quality of private school teachers, they will have to attend the Diploma in Education course opened by the Ministry of Education for a full nine months starting next year, and only those who pass will be allowed to apply for a Green Card. Enrollment lists must be submitted correctly to the township education offices in accordance with the enrollment regulations, and private schools that include students on their lists who do not actually attend will be penalized.
