Vietnam Weather Update: Southern Regions See Reduced Rainfall, Northern Central Vietnam Faces Heavy Downpours

On September 25th, Vietnam experienced varied rainfall patterns across the country. Southern regions saw a reduction in rainfall compared to previous days, with generally moderate showers. However, some areas still face the possibility of heavy downpours. In contrast, the northern central region, particularly from Nghe An to northern Quang Tri province, is bracing for significant rainfall. The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting warned of potential heavy rains and thunderstorms, with rainfall amounts ranging from 30-70mm, and exceeding 150mm in some locations. There is a risk of intense rainfall exceeding 80mm per 3 hours. The forecast indicates a slight decrease in rain from tonight to tomorrow in these areas, but vigilance remains necessary. Southern Quang Tri province, Khanh Hoa province, eastern Lam Dong province, the Central Highlands, and southern regions are expected to receive moderate rain and thunderstorms, with rainfall amounts of 20-40mm, and localized areas experiencing heavy rain exceeding 100mm. These regions are advised to be cautious of potential whirlwinds, lightning, hail, and strong gusts during thunderstorms. Northern Vietnam is forecast to have scattered showers and thunderstorms. Hanoi will experience cloudy skies with rain and thunderstorms, with temperatures ranging from 24-26°C at night and 32-34°C during the day. The Northwest and Northeast regions are also expected to see isolated showers and thunderstorms. From Thanh Hoa to Hue, cloudy conditions with scattered showers and thunderstorms are predicted, with very heavy rain in some northern parts. Temperatures will range from 24-27°C at night and 28-31°C during the day. The South Central Coast will also see scattered showers and thunderstorms, with heavy to very heavy rain in southern parts. The Central Highlands and the South are forecast to have moderate rain and thunderstorms, with some areas receiving heavy to very heavy rain. Ho Chi Minh City is expected to experience moderate rain and thunderstorms, with localized heavy to very heavy rain, with temperatures between 23-25°C at night and 29-31°C during the day. Amidst these weather conditions, Ho Chi Minh City has approved the Tay Saigon (CRUS2) project, a flood control and drainage improvement initiative aimed at adapting to climate change.
