Cambodia: Prime Minister's Aid Distributed to Mekong Riverbank Collapse Victims

In Srey Santhor district, Kampong Cham province, Cambodia, aid from Prime Minister Hun Manet was distributed to 23 families whose homes had to be relocated due to the collapse of the Mekong Riverbank. On the morning of September 19, 2026, HE Oun Chantha, Governor of Kampong Cham Province and Chairman of the Provincial Disaster Management Committee, visited and conveyed the heartfelt condolences and sympathy of Samdech Prime Minister Hun Manet to the affected citizens. The aid was provided to 23 families from four communes in Srey Santhor district, namely Ruessei Srok, Koh Andet, Prek Pou, and Mien Chei, all located along the Mekong River, who were impacted by the riverbank collapse and had to dismantle their homes. Speaking at the occasion, HE Oun Chantha conveyed the Prime Minister's deep concern and attentiveness to the well-being and living conditions of disaster-affected and vulnerable populations. He instructed all levels of authorities to prioritize the needs of the affected families, providing them with food, supplies, and financial assistance to alleviate their living conditions. Furthermore, the Governor advised relevant officials and local authorities to closely monitor all activities caused by natural disasters to ensure effective disaster management and timely response. He urged all citizens to remain vigilant at all times against natural disasters, including heavy rain, lightning, strong winds, or bank collapses. Citizens were advised to identify safe locations, protect themselves from harm to their bodies and lives, and pay attention to their health. The aid provided by Samdech Prime Minister and Madam Net Savoeun to the 23 families included 25 kg of rice, one box of instant noodles, one bunch of canned fish, one bunch of fish sauce, one bunch of soy sauce, one case of bottled water, one tent, one kit (mosquito net, blanket, krama, sarong), and 400,000 Riel in cash per family.
