Cambodia Shares Digital Transformation Experience at WSIS and AI Summits
Cambodia's Minister of Post and Telecommunications attended the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) and AI Summit, sharing experiences in accelerating digital transformation through Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) and fostering international cooperation.
His Excellency Chea Vandeth, Minister of Post and Telecommunications, attended the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) 2026 and the World Summit on Artificial Intelligence for Humanity, held on July 8th and 9th, 2026. Through these forums, representatives from various countries and international organizations continued to promote digital connectivity and digital transformation across sectors, while jointly addressing new important tasks such as Artificial Intelligence and data governance, in line with the resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly in December 2025. His Excellency the Minister participated in the opening ceremony and joined high-level discussions, including a closed-door ministerial roundtable and a Leaders' Talk session, with a focus on digital transformation. He shared Cambodia's experience in accelerating digital transformation by utilizing Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI). He explained that while countries that implemented digital transformation earlier took 20 to 30 years with mixed results, Cambodia's DG SuperApp and the verify.gov.kh platform serve as technological enablers and common assets, allowing ministries, institutions, and the private sector to digitize their services rapidly and securely. This not only makes public services easier to access and use but also reduces the digital transformation period to approximately five years with a high success rate. His Excellency Chea Vandeth also took the opportunity to hold bilateral meetings with several digital ministers, including His Excellency Raafat Hendy, Minister of Egypt and rotating chair of WSIS 2026; Her Excellency Liisa-Ly Pakosta, Minister of Estonia; Her Excellency Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Minister of Pakistan; Her Excellency Paula Ingabire, Minister of Rwanda; His Excellency Joseph Pierre-Louis, Minister of Haiti; and Her Excellency Amal Seghrouchni, Minister of Morocco. They exchanged views cordially and explored possibilities for mutual support in their digital transformation journeys. Concurrently, His Excellency invited counterparts from Francophone member states to participate in the Francotech program in Cambodia in November.
