Cambodia Enhances Safety Oversight for High-Risk Equipment to Boost Industrial Quality

The High-Risk Equipment Inspection Center under the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation organized a workshop on "Inspection of High-Risk Equipment and Training and Examination for Operator Competency Assessment" to enhance the quality and safety of the industry. The workshop, held on September 15, 2026, was attended by over 300 participants, including Dr. Ting Siney, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, the Director General of the National Laboratory of Construction under the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, leaders from provincial industry departments, representatives of business associations, industrial park leaders, and enterprise representatives. Dr. Ting Siney urged units using high-risk equipment to pay close attention to proper inspection, emphasizing that registration for equipment use must undergo a mandatory inspection to ensure safety. Chong Bu, Director of the Department of Industrial Technology and Safety, explained the Law on Industrial Management, operational standards, daily maintenance, and the procedure for applying for safety certificates, stating that inspection results are a crucial basis for obtaining safety certificates. He Jingwei, a consultant at the center, presented the mission and process of inspecting high-risk equipment, covering assessment, manufacturing permits, follow-up inspections, installation, modification, repair, and periodic inspections. He also showcased the center's specialized training services and practical training locations. Representatives from participating institutions and enterprises expressed their support and pledged to apply the knowledge gained from the workshop in their respective factories and industrial zones. They committed to strengthening cooperation with the center to ensure the safety of high-risk equipment and contribute to the high-quality and safe development of Cambodia's industrial sector.
