President Prabowo Meets TNI Commander and National Police Chief to Discuss National Situation and Forest Fires

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto held a meeting with General Agus Subiyanto, the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, the Chief of the Indonesian National Police, at his residence in Hambalang, Bogor Regency, on September 1st. Several high-ranking military and police officials attended the meeting, including Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Deputy Chief of the National Police Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo, Head of the Metro Jaya Regional Police Commissioner General Asep Edi Suheri, Head of the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency Commissioner General Yuda Gustawan, Lieutenant General TNI Tandyo Budi Revita (Deputy Commander of TNI), Lieutenant General TNI Yusuf Jauhari (Head of the National Logistics Agency), and Major General TNI Rio Firdianto (Assistant Intelligence for the TNI Commander). President Prabowo was accompanied by Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. According to Cabinet Secretary Teddy, the meeting focused on the developments in the national situation, with particular emphasis on measures to address the escalating forest and land fires (Karhutla) in several areas of Sumatra and Kalimantan. "During the meeting, the President received reports on the field conditions, including steps for handling and controlling forest and land fires," stated Teddy. He added that the government is committed to strengthening coordination in tackling Karhutla, ensuring swift and integrated responses to anticipate the expansion of fire hotspots. As Indonesia enters its dry season, the risk of forest fires increases, prompting the government to enhance its fire monitoring and early response systems.
