Vietnam Streamlines Legal Documents to Enhance Quality and Efficiency

On August 7th, the Ministry of Justice of Vietnam organized a symposium on the Law on Legal Normative Documents in Hanoi. Presided over by Deputy Minister of Justice Dang Hoang Oanh, the meeting reported that the appraisal report on the results of the comprehensive review of legal normative documents at the central level was completed by July 27th. Over 43,000 legal normative documents were scrutinized during this review process. This indicates that the Vietnamese government views the simplification of administrative procedures, the improvement of convenience for citizens' lives, and particularly the enhancement of the investment climate to attract foreign investment, as pressing issues. Prime Minister Le Minh Hung has instructed to strengthen the progress control and quality assurance of legal normative documents. This underscores the importance of increasing transparency and consistency in the legal development process. Under Vietnam's one-party system, the government's establishment of laws and regulations forms the basis for executing economic policies and social control, thus their quality and efficiency are fundamental to state management. Furthermore, a strong push to innovate the consolidation of legal normative documents was indicated. This aims to resolve duplication and contradictions within the existing legal system, constructing clearer and more understandable legal norms. Such efforts in legal development are indispensable elements in the context of Vietnam's pursuit of sustainable economic growth and strengthened international cooperation. While Vietnam has achieved rapid economic growth over many years, it has also faced criticism regarding the lagging development of its legal system. The current initiative to review and improve the quality of legal normative documents is expected to be a significant step in addressing Vietnam's challenges and striving for further development.
