Bekasi City-Owned Oil and Gas Firm Under Investigation for Major Corruption Allegations

The Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) continues to investigate alleged corruption in the management of the local government-owned enterprise (BUMD) PT Migas Kota Bekasi, specifically concerning its joint operation (KSO) with PT Pertamina EP from 2009 to 2024. On September 21, 2026, investigators summoned and questioned four witnesses, including the President Director of PT Migas Kota Bekasi, Apung Widadi (AW). Kapuspenkum Kejagung Anang Supriatna stated that the examination of witnesses was conducted to strengthen the evidence in the investigation. He assured that the investigation is being carried out professionally, independently, and accountably, upholding the principle of presumed innocence and prudence. The four individuals questioned as witnesses were: HB, a director at PT Migas Kota Bekasi (Perseroda); S, another director at PT Migas Kota Bekasi (Perseroda); TUE from the Bekasi City Government; and AW, the President Director of PT Migas Kota Bekasi (Perseroda). Previously reported, the case stems from the management of oil and gas wells in Bekasi City, which involved partnerships with private or foreign companies. Anang revealed that the implementation of this cooperation was indicated to be rife with violations of regulatory mechanisms and permits. He noted that the company was newly formed, and its operations proceeded without proper permits, including from the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, with various procedural mechanisms being disregarded. The suspected irregularities in this joint operation are estimated to have caused state financial losses amounting to approximately two trillion rupiah, impacting both the regional budget and Pertamina. As of now, the Attorney General's Office has not announced any suspect designations in this case.
