Vietnam Advances Land Database Enhancement Amid Progress and Challenges

According to a report from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam has advanced its land database enhancement efforts across 34 provinces and cities, with over 102.96 million land parcels surveyed and updated. Of these, nearly 68.25 million parcels have synchronized data, and approximately 43.34 million meet the criteria of being 'accurate, complete, clean, and current.' The latest update indicates notable progress in the construction and refinement of the land database compared to the previous reporting period. Specifically, the total number of reported land parcels nationwide reached 102,960,436, an increase of over 2.28 million parcels from the prior period. The primary reasons for this rise include delays in updating land subdivisions and consolidations in housing projects in some localities and insufficient time for statistical review and surveying following administrative boundary adjustments. The number of land parcels with synchronized data currently stands at 68,246,449. While this figure is 4,914,861 parcels lower than the previous report, it does not reflect a genuine decline in database construction. Instead, local authorities are re-synchronizing, reviewing, and enriching data according to new technical requirements. Significantly, the number of land parcels meeting the 'accurate, complete, clean, and current' criteria has increased substantially. Group 1, comprising these parcels, now totals 43,335,924, an increase of 4,738,353 parcels from the previous report. Meanwhile, Group 2, which includes parcels with existing data requiring further supplementation, verification, enrichment, and cleaning, has 24,720,221 parcels, a decrease of nearly 9.93 million parcels from the prior period. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development explains that local authorities are continuing to enrich the 'accurate, complete, clean, and current' land data with more information fields and are re-synchronizing data from the local to the central level to meet technical requirements for connection with the National Data Center. Consequently, the number of parcels in each group may fluctuate during the synchronization process and will stabilize once data enrichment is complete.
