In Tamu Township, Sagaing Region, despite the heavy deployment of interim government forces and their affiliated militia groups such as Pyusawhti, Shan Ni, and Kase, robberies continue to occur, according to local residents. It was learned that a robbery occurred around 8 p.m. yesterday, September 9th, at a shop in Ward 4, where a man threatened with a long gun and stole money and phones. "Before the shop closed at night, a man in civilian clothes showed a long gun, threatened, and took the cash earned throughout the day and phones from the shop," a Tamu Township resident told the Irrawaddy Times. It is understood that the shop owner did not report the incident to the police station, as no action has been taken despite reports of theft and robbery cases in Tamu Township. "We also reported the robbery at Cho Bo Ye's place to the police station in previous days. We only lost money. The police did not actively investigate the case. Later, people stopped reporting to the police no matter what happened," a Tamu Township resident told the Irrawaddy Times. Local residents say that the police are not taking action in this way because members of Pyusawhti, who are under the interim government forces, are involved in the robberies in Tamu Township.
