Kandal Provincial Administration Donates Rainy Season Candles and Offerings to 16 Pagodas in Takhmao City

The Kandal Provincial Administration organized a ceremony to present rainy season candles, offerings, and cash to 16 pagodas in Takhmao City, Kandal Province, to support monks observing the three-month Vassa period. The event, held on the afternoon of July 29, 2026, was attended by Kandal Provincial Council Chairman Nou Sakhorn and his wife, Governor Kouk Chamroeun and his wife, along with numerous provincial officials. The donation of candles, offerings, and cash is intended to support monks in fulfilling their religious duties and studying Buddhist teachings during the Vassa retreat. This initiative not only contributes to promoting Buddhism, the state religion of Cambodia, but also serves as a means to accumulate merit for the happiness and prosperity of all citizens and leaders at all levels throughout Kandal Province. Each pagoda received one million Cambodian Riel (approximately $250 USD), a pair of Vassa candles, a Sadok (a ceremonial object), 200 kg of rice, 10 cases of bottled water, 10 cases of beverages, 10 cases of instant noodles, 10 bundles of canned fish, 4 bundles of fish sauce, 4 bundles of soy sauce, 5 kg of tea, 1 case of condensed milk, 1 bag of sugar, and 30 liters of diesel fuel. This act highlights the importance of supporting Buddhist traditions and institutions within Cambodia, reinforcing the role of pagodas as spiritual centers for the community. The provincial government's engagement in such religious events underscores its commitment to fostering national unity and the well-being of its populace.
