COTABATO CITY – A Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) personnel was killed, and three others survived an ambush by still unidentified gunmen in Barangay Bubongaranao, Calanogas in Lanao del Sur, on Wednesday night, a police official said. Col. Caesar Cabuhat, Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office director, identified the fatality as Fire Officer 1 Abdul Hamid Rangires Dimaren, 36, who was assigned to the fire station in Malabang, Lanao del Sur. READ: ‘Persons of interest’ hunted in Sultan Kudarat ambush of 2 cops The survivors were identified as retired Fire Senior Inspector Maximino Ventura, 57, of Malabang town; Senior Fire Officer 2 Margie Ventura, 46; and Fire Officer 2 Hanin Balindong, 37. Both Ventura and Balindong are also assigned at the Malabang Fire Station. Initial police investigation said the victims were traveling aboard a black Toyota Hilux with license plate AEG 584 from Masiu to Malabang town when they were attacked by two gunmen riding a motorcycle at around 7:30 p.m. Police are still investigating to determine the motive and the suspects behind the ambush./coa
