Vietnam's PVFCCo Achieves ISO Certification for Greenhouse Gas Inventory

PetroVietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Corporation (PVFCCo) announced that its Phu My Fertilizer Plant has officially received certification for compliance with the ISO 14064-1:2018 standard for its 2025 Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions Inventory. This certification marks a significant milestone for PVFCCo-Phu My in realizing its strategy to combat climate change, reduce GHG emissions, and achieve sustainable development. It also addresses the increasing demands for emission information transparency from customers, partners, and global supply chains. A notable aspect of the 2025 inventory is the expansion of Scope 3 (indirect emissions in the value chain) for the first time to include areas such as the procurement of chemical raw materials, their transportation, and the treatment of waste generated during the production process at the Phu My Fertilizer Plant. This expanded scope demonstrates a comprehensive and transparent approach aligned with international best practices in emissions management. The inventory report, independently audited and assessed by BSI Assurance UK according to the ISO 14064-1:2018 standard, was conducted with a reasonable assurance level and a materiality threshold of 5%. The certificate issued by BSI on July 17, 2026, confirms that the inventory data for the Phu My Fertilizer Plant has been prepared truthfully, accurately, and in accordance with international standard requirements. According to the confirmed results, the total GHG emissions from the Phu My Fertilizer Plant in 2025 amounted to 813,433.060 tCO₂e. Achieving the ISO 14064-1:2018 certification not only recognizes PVFCCo-Phu My's efforts in environmental management and GHG emission reduction but also affirms its international-standard management capabilities and its pioneering role in promoting green production. This serves as a crucial foundation for PVFCCo-Phu My to further enhance its competitiveness, increase brand value, and build trust with customers, partners, and the community. It also actively contributes to the sustainable development goals of Vietnam's industry-energy and agriculture sectors, as well as the nation's green transition roadmap. In the coming years, PVFCCo-Phu My will continue to review and detail additional Scope 3 emission sources, implement operational optimization solutions, improve energy efficiency, apply green technologies, and promote emission reduction initiatives throughout its entire value chain. These are important steps towards realizing sustainable development goals, enhancing competitiveness, and gradually moving towards the Net Zero target in line with the Vietnamese government's direction.
