PAGASA Monitors LPA Outside PAR Amid Fair Weather Forecast

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced on Monday that a low-pressure area (LPA) being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has a high chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours. However, PAGASA explained that the LPA is located approximately 3,185 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas and is unlikely to affect the country's weather conditions at this time. Fair weather is expected across the Philippines as the influence of the southwest monsoon, which caused heavy rainfall in many areas over the past few weeks, has weakened. This is attributed to a tropical cyclone near China steering the path of the monsoon away from the country. A PAGASA weather specialist stated that pleasant and fair weather is anticipated for Luzon, as well as for the Visayas and Mindanao regions. However, PAGASA cautioned that localized thunderstorms may occur in Batanes and Babuyan Islands within the next 24 hours due to the effects of the Easterlies. These localized thunderstorms could also affect Metro Manila and other parts of the country, posing a risk of flash floods and landslides during severe thunderstorms. As of this writing, no heavy rainfall outlook has been issued for any part of the country. In the Philippines, weather monitoring by PAGASA is crucial for ensuring public safety.
