Vietnam Boosts Local Diplomacy to Leverage International Resources for Development

On the afternoon of August 2nd, in Hanoi, within the framework of the 33rd National Diplomacy Conference, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized the 22nd National Foreign Affairs Conference themed “Elevating Local Diplomacy, Effectively Mobilizing International Resources for Development”. Local diplomacy has become a frontline force in the cause of construction, defense, and development in each province, city, and the entire country. Leveraging the resources of overseas Vietnamese: From the pioneering role of diplomacy to a driving force for national and local development. Under Vietnam's one-party system, foreign policy is closely linked to the nation's development strategy. In recent years, while achieving rapid economic growth, Vietnam has prioritized building relationships with the international community, particularly focusing on attracting international resources and investment for economic development. Enhancing diplomatic activities at the local level complements the central government's foreign policy strategy, aiming to revitalize regional economies and improve international competitiveness. Furthermore, amidst complex relations with China, Vietnam is pursuing diversification of its foreign relations.
