Village administrator and Pyu Saw Htee leader among 12 shot dead in Thammagyi Village, Myingyan Township

Ayeyarwaddy Times, August 31 Twelve local residents, including the village administrator and a Pyu Saw Htee leader, were shot dead in Thammagyi Village, Myingyan Township, Mandalay Region, on the morning of August 31. It is reported that around 4 a.m. this morning, approximately 50 armed individuals entered Thammagyi Village, located southeast of Myingyan Town, and shot dead 12 villagers, including the administrator, U Soe Lin Htike. The deceased have been identified as Administrator U Soe Lin Htike, U Chit San Maung and his wife, U Maung Thein, U Zaw and his son, U Win Naing, and U Aung Maung, totaling 12 people, according to reports on military propaganda Telegram channels. "They entered the village around 4 a.m. this morning and shot them dead with guns," a local source told Ayeyarwaddy Times. Ayeyarwaddy Times has not yet been able to confirm which organization carried out the shooting, but it is known that a Pyu Saw Htee leader was among the deceased. Thammagyi Village is located between the Yangon-Mandalay highway and the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway, and according to locals, it is a village where Pyu Saw Htee (militia) forces are stationed. Myingyan Township borders not only the military-occupied Mytkyna Town but also Naungcho, Taungtha, and Chaungpya towns, where revolutionary forces are actively operating. On May 18, U Kyi Win, the administrator of Wakho Village Tract in Myingyan Township, was abducted by an unidentified armed group and later shot dead outside the village.
