Starting from around 8:30 AM today (July 6), residents from about 10 villages along the riverbank have been fleeing. Local residents said that the military flotilla, which departed from Monya, Alon Min Theint jetty and headed upstream, included 26 cargo vessels carrying drone equipment and ammunition, and two attack warships. "All residents on both sides of the riverbank have had to flee. We had to evacuate in advance because of the continuous artillery fire from the warships. There are also places where the military has set up camps on the land route, so we had to run to safety," a local man told Mizzima. It is understood that as the Chindwin River widens during the rainy season, the military has been extensively using warships for ammunition transport. Currently, on the morning of July 6, the flotilla has reached the vicinity of Min Oo and Ai Taw villages in Kanay Township. "We have been displaced for nearly two months. While prices are rising, both children and adults are unemployed. The main difficulty and hardship is food shortage. Since we are taking refuge in schools in other villages, we will face difficulties with accommodation when the schools reopen," said a woman who had to relocate again due to the military flotilla while already displaced. According to a statement from the Anya Myay Pyae Taung Lay organization, 46 military vessels arrived at Monya, Alon Min Theint jetty on the morning of July 4, including six warships and 40 cargo barges. Of these vessels, 26 have sailed upstream along the river from Alon Min Theint jetty. The military has been conducting patrols in Kanay Township and has been stationed in Chaung Ma village at the Monya-Kanay-Yar Gyi junction for nearly two months.
