Cambodia Forecasts Widespread Thunderstorms and Gusty Winds Over Weekend

The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology of Cambodia has announced that widespread rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds is expected across the country from September 12th to 14th. This is due to low-pressure systems over the Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea, and South China Sea influencing the southwest monsoon blowing over the Mekong River basin, Cambodian sea, and the Kingdom of Cambodia. In the plains, temperatures will range from a minimum of 25°C to a maximum of 36°C, with southwesterly winds blowing at an average speed of 3 meters per second. Provinces such as Battambang, Poipet, Pursat, Kampong Cham, Preah Vihear, Kratié, Stung Treng, Ratanakiri, Mondulkiri, and the Phnom Penh capital can expect rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds covering 70% of their areas. In the plateau regions, temperatures will range from a minimum of 24°C to a maximum of 35°C, with southwesterly and westerly winds blowing at an average speed of 5 meters per second. Provinces such as Kampong Speu, Pailin, Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Kratié, Stung Treng, Ratanakiri, Mondulkiri, and the Dangrek Mountains and Cardamom Mountains regions can expect rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds covering 70% of their areas. Along the coast, temperatures will range from a minimum of 25°C to a maximum of 34°C, with southwesterly and southeasterly winds blowing at an average speed of 3 meters per second. Provinces such as Koh Kong, Sihanoukville, Kandal, Kep, and the Bokor Mountain region can expect rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds covering 50% of their areas. Sea waves are expected to range from an average minimum of 0.50 meters to an average maximum of 1.70 meters.
