Songkhla Flood Preparedness: Senators Review Urgent Response Plan

In Songkhla province, southern Thailand, a delegation of senators has inspected the progress of urgent response plans to address flooding that has previously caused severe damage. The inspection was conducted with the aim of ensuring the safety of local residents and preventing the recurrence of future flood damage. The senators reviewed the current status of infrastructure improvements, such as river dredging, dike reinforcement, and drainage system enhancements. They also gathered information on rapid public information dissemination and evacuation guidance systems. Songkhla province is prone to frequent river overflows and coastal inundation during the monsoon season. In the past, many areas have suffered damage to homes and agricultural crops. Based on these experiences, the government and local authorities are rushing to formulate and implement plans that allow for more effective and rapid responses. Through this inspection, the senators pledged support for the early realization of the plans and indicated their intention to understand the needs on the ground through dialogue with residents, which will inform future policy-making.
