Indonesia Achieves 95% Transition to B50 Biodiesel, Pertamina Reports
State-owned oil company Pertamina announced that 95% of its Public Fuel Filling Stations (SPBU) across Indonesia have begun distributing B50 biodiesel. The transition, mandated by the President, was expected to be completed within three months. Some areas in Papua and Maluku are experiencing delays due to existing B40 stock.
Pertamina Patra Niaga, Indonesia's state-owned oil company, has reported the distribution of Biosolar B50 biodiesel fuel to 95 percent of Public Fuel Filling Stations (SPBU) nationwide. Eko Ricky Susanto, Director of Retail Marketing at Pertamina Patra Niaga, stated that the transition from B40 to B50 was implemented following a presidential mandate announced in July, with a target completion within three months. "Alhamdulillah, yesterday we also reported to the ministerial institution, including the DPR, regarding the progress of bio-solar distribution. Currently, almost all fuel terminals have B50, and approximately 95 percent of SPBU have distributed it," Eko told the media at the Rewulu Fuel Terminal in Bantul on Friday, November 11. The remaining areas that have not yet fully transitioned are primarily in the Papua and Maluku regions. Eko explained that the delay is due to the ongoing process of exhausting remaining B40 stocks in these areas, given the still high inventory volumes. "Hopefully, by the end of September, we will have entered B50," Eko added. He further emphasized that the energy conversion program utilizing palm oil-based vegetable fuel (CPO) is a crucial national strategy. According to him, achieving the B50 stage positions Indonesia as one of the pioneering countries globally in the large-scale utilization of CPO-based vegetable fuels. "Well, this is also one of the only ones in the world that has entered B50," he concluded.
