Vietnam's Top Leader Meets UN Secretary-General, Discusses U.S. Business Ties

On September 23 (local time), at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, USA, within the framework of the High-Level Week of the 81st UN General Assembly, Party General Secretary and President Tô Lâm held a meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres. Party General Secretary and President Tô Lâm met with representatives of U.S. businesses participating in the Initiative to Search for Vietnamese Missing Persons during the War. Party General Secretary and President Tô Lâm met with Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh. Party General Secretary and President Tô Lâm received representatives of economic groups in the United States. During the meeting, General Secretary and President Tô Lâm reaffirmed Vietnam's commitment to contributing to peace and sustainable development in the international community and confirmed the policy of further strengthening cooperation with the United Nations. Secretary-General Guterres highly appreciated Vietnam's participation in UN peacekeeping operations and its role in promoting multilateralism. On the same day, General Secretary and President Tô Lâm also held separate meetings with representatives of major U.S. corporations and economic groups operating in the United States. Discussions focused on promoting investment in Vietnam, expanding economic cooperation, and particularly the participation of U.S. businesses in the initiative to search for Vietnamese missing persons during the war. Vietnam emphasized its policy of actively attracting foreign investment to accelerate economic growth. These meetings are seen as part of Vietnam's diplomatic strategy to enhance its international presence and strengthen economic ties.
