Over 14,000 affected by floods in Letmeekhan Township

In Letmeekhan Township, Ayeyarwady Region, where floods have occurred due to the Ngwan River dam breach, it has been learned from the statement of Dr. Khine Khine Soe, spokesperson for the Office of the President, that as of August 3, a total of 14,056 people, comprising 3,215 households in 3,158 houses across 14 villages in 5 wards, have been affected by the floods. Currently, nine flood relief camps have been opened within Letmeekhan Township, sheltering 441 households and 1,411 people, it is reported. At the camps, drinking water, food, and essential relief items needed by the flood victims are continuously being provided by relevant departments, social welfare organizations, and donors. Furthermore, the Ayeyarwady Region government has arranged for the purchase of necessary fuel for rescue vehicles and boats at nine designated fuel stations in Hinthada city. Work to quickly complete the repair of the breached dam is being carried out using full manpower and machinery. It is also reported that in flood relief operations, the Manpack satellite communication system and the Command and Control Center (C3) are being used to monitor and control ground conditions in real-time, facilitating rescue and relief efforts.
