In Cambodia's capital, Phnom Penh, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) at the Techo Sen National Polytechnic Institute is gaining attention as an alternative future path for high school graduates beyond university education. Chheung Nary, Director of the Techo Sen National Polytechnic Institute, emphasizes that high school graduates should not overlook TVET. This is because TVET offers young people the opportunity to acquire skills that can be quickly applied in practical work. "The key point is that both students who passed and those who did not pass the exams can get the opportunity to learn specialized skills, and there is also a 100% scholarship available. This allows students to choose a field they love and use it for their future careers," he stated. In addition to reducing tuition costs, the institute focuses on training within appropriate timeframes and acquiring practical skills. This enables students to gain necessary skills in a shorter period and prepare for employment more quickly. According to Director Chheung Nary, TVET is not just theoretical learning. Students receive hands-on practical training using actual equipment and materials in the institute's workshops and practical rooms. This allows students to acquire genuine skills and develop practical abilities, not just theoretical knowledge. Furthermore, internships in companies and enterprises play a crucial role in allowing students to gain experience before entering the job market and to better understand employer needs. Through theory and practice, the use of actual equipment, practical training in workshops, and internships in companies, students have the opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world jobs. This serves as a foundation for building skills and practical experience, the director explained.
