Cambodia Partners with World Vision to Enhance Sub-National Education Administration Capacity
The Cambodian Ministry of Education has signed an agreement with World Vision International for a project to enhance the capacity of sub-national administrations in the education, youth, and sports sectors. This initiative will be implemented in seven provinces, aiming to improve the quality of educational services and their prompt delivery to citizens.
The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of Cambodia has signed an agreement with World Vision International, an international NGO, to implement a project aimed at enhancing the capacity of sub-national administrations (cities and districts) in carrying out their transferred functions within the education, youth, and sports sectors. This collaboration seeks to improve the quality of education across the nation. Dr. Thin Thida, Country Director of World Vision International, expressed a strong commitment to contributing to the advancement of Cambodia's education sector. She stated that the outcomes of the pilot projects conducted in two provinces have served as a valuable foundation and learning experience, paving the way for World Vision to continue its support for the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. This support will extend the scope of capacity building to other provinces, ensuring that public services are delivered to citizens promptly, accurately, and effectively, meeting the specific needs of each locality with efficiency, transparency, accountability, inclusivity, and social equity. The project is scheduled to run from July 2026 to September 2027 and will be implemented in seven target provinces: Siem Reap, Banteay Meanchey, Kampong Speu, Battambang, Preah Vihear, Kampong Thom, and Kratie. It is noteworthy that in 2025, World Vision International had already implemented a pilot project to enhance the capacity of city and district administrations in executing their transferred duties in the education, youth, and sports sectors in Siem Reap and Banteay Meanchey provinces.
