13 Youths Detained for Conscription in Hteu, Escaped from Jail and Reached People Defense Force (PDF)

HTEU Thirteen youths who were detained for conscription by the military in Hteu Township, Sagaing Region, escaped from their detention facility on the evening of September 16 and have reached the People's Defense Force (PDF) of Hteu Township, according to information from the Hteu Township PDF. Among the approximately 20 youths detained and held at Hteu Township No. 2 High School, 13 youths between the ages of 20 and 30 escaped from the detention facility and have safely arrived at the Hteu Township PDF. "Thirteen people have fled and escaped to us. Their ages are between 20 and 30," a responsible person from the Hteu Township PDF told the Ayeyarwaddy Times. Currently, the Hteu Township PDF is providing assistance for the living, food, and health of the youths who have escaped. The PDF is also urging other youths who are still detained to understand the situation and seek refuge with the people. The interim government's military continues to carry out arrests on the streets and by checking household registrations under the conscription law, and some military training schools that had been closed have been reopened due to the need for military personnel. According to a report by the Myanmar Military and Security Affairs Institute (MDSI), training is currently being provided at 27 training schools, including the Advanced Training School (HTTC-10) based in Kalay City and the Advanced Training School (HTTC-13) in Thabeikkyin Township, starting from the 27th batch of conscription. Similarly, on the streets of various townships in Yangon, the military and administrative organizations continue to arrest youths in various ways using private cars, charity vehicles, and police cars, according to the Rangoon Scout Network (RSN), a ground monitoring group.
