Dong Nai Authorities Visit and Support Victims of Severe Traffic Accident

On the morning of July 21, leaders from Dong Nai province, along with various departments and agencies, visited the site of a severe traffic accident on National Highway 1A in Hung Thinh commune. They offered condolences and support to the injured and the families of those who lost their lives. Vice Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Ut, and Vice Chairman Ho Van Ha, were present at the scene to direct the aftermath and receive reports on the accident's situation, recovery efforts, and initial causes. Provincial leaders urged relevant agencies to urgently address the consequences of the accident, thoroughly investigate its causes, and handle the matter in accordance with the law. They also visited and comforted the victims and their families, expressing deep sympathy. The authorities arranged for transportation assistance for families to bring deceased victims back to their hometowns for funeral rites, and for remaining passengers to continue their journeys or return home. Financial support was decided, with 20 million VND for each family of a deceased victim and 10 million VND for each injured person. Dong Nai General Hospital is treating two patients, aged 37 and 35, both residents of Dong Nai province, for thermal burns. Another patient, a 48-year-old man from Tay Ninh province, who sustained minor burns, was discharged after being treated at Trang Bom Regional Medical Center. Two other individuals with minor injuries are reported to be in stable condition. The accident occurred around 2 AM the same day when a 24-seat sleeper bus (license plate 50E-447.02), traveling from Khanh Hoa to Ho Chi Minh City, collided with the right-side barrier at Km1839 on National Highway 1A. The vehicle then hit another barrier before coming to a stop. A fire broke out under the vehicle near the fuel tank and rapidly engulfed the entire bus. The incident resulted in 7 fatalities and 5 injuries. Initial tests for the driver, Tran Thanh Hai (born 1985, from Khanh Hoa province), were negative for narcotics and alcohol. Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver fell asleep, lost control of the vehicle, and collided with the road barrier, leading to the fire. Dong Nai Provincial Police are actively investigating the cause of the accident.
