Lao Women’s Union Hosts Seminar to Boost Female Entrepreneurship
The Lao Women’s Union held a seminar themed 'Strengthening Women Entrepreneurs in the Business Sector,' aiming to expand employment opportunities, improve access to finance, and foster self-reliant economic development. The event focused on skill development and networking to empower women entrepreneurs amidst economic challenges.
The Lao Women’s Union (LWU) held a seminar under the theme "Strengthening Women Entrepreneurs in the Business Sector," chaired by Aly Vongnobountham, LWU President and a member of the Party Central Committee. Representatives from government agencies, the private sector, and related organizations attended the event. In her opening remarks, Aly Vongnobountham stated that the seminar supports the implementation of the Lao Women’s Development Plan, particularly its goal of expanding employment opportunities, improving access to formal financing, and empowering women to become successful small and medium-sized entrepreneurs in line with the country's vision of building a self-reliant economy. The program focuses on strengthening participants' knowledge and practical skills in project development, business management, financial access, intellectual property registration, and family business development. It also promotes the use of local knowledge and resources to generate sustainable income. The seminar provides a platform for government agencies, business associations, and entrepreneurs to exchange experiences, strengthen cooperation, and build networks that support women's business development nationwide. Alongside the discussions, the event features exhibitions of locally made products, activities promoting Lao culture and environmental protection, and programs supporting the protection of women and children. Aly Vongnobountham emphasized that empowering women economically remains essential as Laos continues to face global and domestic economic challenges. She called on women across the country to continue developing their skills and actively contribute to family welfare, community development, and national socio-economic growth. The seminar is part of the Lao Women's Union's ongoing implementation of the Resolution of the 9th National Congress of Lao Women's Representatives and the "Three Goods" campaign, which promotes women's comprehensive development and greater participation in national development.
