Vietnam Boosts Disaster Response and International Cooperation Amidst Challenges

Vietnam is deepening its cooperation with the international community to enhance its response capabilities to frequent natural disasters, particularly floods, in recent years. The implementation of the PAUL disaster relief system demonstrates concrete benefits for local communities beyond experience sharing, and contributes to raising awareness of the urgent need for safe and disaster-resilient housing. Domestically, 19 teams are participating in disaster response and search and rescue exercises at the 2026 Military-wide Civil Defense Sports Festival, aiming to improve practical effectiveness. The Vietnam Association for Promoting Education (VAPE) also plans to promote digital transformation and green transition, renewing its learning models. Consideration for citizens' lives continues to be a priority. Gifts from General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam were presented to child patients, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, at a children's hospital in Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of the 2026 Mid-Autumn Festival. This reflects the Party and State's constant attention to protecting and caring for the health of the people, particularly child patients. In terms of diplomacy, Vietnam and China have agreed to strictly abide by the three legal documents governing the land border and common perceptions reached by the two armies, to address border issues quickly and appropriately. In the education sector, Vietnamese students and researchers are positioned as "knowledge ambassadors," strengthening direct links with the US education and innovation ecosystems. Furthermore, Vietnam and Russia have agreed to establish a cooperation framework for exchanging external information and supporting cooperation programs. Additionally, Vietnam plans to connect its national digital identification application VNeID with Singapore and Laos, with a view to expanding the connection to other ASEAN countries. This initiative aims to deepen international collaboration as part of its digitalization drive. These efforts demonstrate Vietnam's commitment to achieving sustainable development by strengthening its domestic system and fostering international cooperation in response to the diverse challenges it faces.
