Kampong Thom Province Strengthens Role of Veterans and Retired Officials Association, Updates Membership Registry
Kampong Thom Province's Veterans and Retired Officials Association held a meeting to strengthen membership management and assign responsibilities under a new leadership structure, aiming to improve support for former civil servants.
Kampong Thom Province, Cambodia – The Veterans and Retired Officials Association of Kampong Thom Province convened a significant meeting on September 8, 2026, to enhance membership management and clarify responsibilities under new directives. The meeting took place at the Kampong শারীরিক Operations Area Command, presided over by Major General Som Sun, Acting Deputy Chairman and Secretary of the Provincial Branch of the Association, with participation from association officials across the province's districts and municipalities. Lieutenant Colonel Kea Mai of the Association's Secretariat read out Decision No. 206, dated September 8, 2026, issued by H.E. Noun Pharat, Governor of Kampong Thom Province and Chairman of the Provincial Association Branch. The decision appointed Mr. Chuon Silavit, Director of the National Social Aid Fund Branch, as the Acting Deputy Chairman of the Kampong Thom Provincial Veterans and Retired Officials Association. He will be directly responsible for managing retired former civil servants from various sectors and will coordinate the acceptance of membership applications for the association in Kampong Thom. Mr. Chuon Silavit, Deputy Chairman, and Brigadier General Ngang Sa, Deputy Head of the Secretariat, provided guidance on the updated procedures for membership management according to the new directives from the Central Committee of the Veterans and Retired Officials Association, emphasizing accurate and effective management at the local level. Major General Som Sun presented the decision to Mr. Chuon Silavit and instructed the secretariat and leaders of the association in all nine districts of the province to diligently implement their assigned duties. He stressed the importance of immediate action and cooperation with local authorities at all levels to update the membership registry accurately and promptly, in line with the guidelines from the association's Central Committee. This will facilitate proper management and appropriate support for the members, in accordance with the directives of H.E. Deputy Prime Minister, General Dr. Kun Kim, Vice President and Secretary-General of the Association. Source: AKP Khmer
