Vietnam Eyes Enhanced International Cooperation in Smart Agriculture and Advanced Technologies

Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung proposed expanding joint research programmes, particularly in strategic areas where Vietnam has development needs, and KIST has strengths, including semiconductor integrated circuits, AI, batteries and energy storage, and biotechnology. Stronger SME ties could become the main pillar in shifting Vietnam–RoK relations from quantitative growth towards qualitative development, according to KOVECA Vice Chairman Kwon Sung Taek. The Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Department of Foreign Markets said Korean companies showed strong interest in Vietnam International Sourcing (VIS 2026), covering food, logistics, digital technology, mechanics, shipbuilding, seafood and distribution. Prime Minister Le Minh Hung on September 12 called on India's ACME Group and GMR Group to expand investment and cooperation in Vietnam, particularly in clean energy, green industry, high technology and infrastructure, as Hanoi seeks to attract investment in strategic sectors. Vietnam could deepen cooperation with BRICS through four main areas: expanding trade and market access; attracting and promoting two-way investment; engaging deeper in global supply chains and logistics networks; and advancing cooperation in science-technology, innovation and digital transformation. Domestically, farmers in provinces are gradually embracing advances in science and technology and digital transformation, providing an important impetus for the agricultural sector to shift toward modern production in line with Politburo Resolution No. 19-NQ/TW dated June 16, 2022. Major export products include rattan and bamboo products, sedge and wickerware, fine wooden furniture and handicrafts, ceramics, lacquerware and textiles. Many craft village products feature diverse designs and good quality, gradually enhancing their competitiveness in both domestic and international markets. French cheese maker Bel has operated in Vietnam since 2011 and now considers the country one of the pillars of its development strategy in Asia. Over the past 15 years, the group has gradually established a long-term production base serving both the Vietnamese market and regional demand. Vietnam actively and responsibly participates in the WTO’s agenda and supports its coordinating role in promoting inclusive and balanced global trade for peace, cooperation and development, while effectively responding to global challenges, said Prime Minister Le Minh Hung. Vietnam is committed to creating favourable conditions for French businesses to invest and operate in the country on a stable, long-term basis, said Minister of Finance Ngo Van Tuan. These international cooperation initiatives reflect Vietnam's policy of pursuing economic growth under its one-party system while deepening integration with the global economy, aiming for technological innovation and sustainable development. Notably, in the context of complex relations with China, strengthening ties with diverse partners such as South Korea, India, and European countries is a crucial strategy for enhancing Vietnam's diplomatic and economic independence.
