Mr. Duoc emphasized that investors need to review the progress and organize construction reasonably to shorten the timeline while ensuring technical standards and project quality. "Investors must calculate plans to shorten the construction period and fulfill the city's requirements by the end of 2027," he stated. The Xuyen Tam canal renovation project, spanning nearly 6.7 km and including three auxiliary branches totaling over 2.2 km, passes through four wards: An Nhon, Binh Thanh, Binh Loi Trung, and Gia Dinh. The total investment for the project exceeds VND 17.23 trillion (over $700 million USD). To date, land acquisition has been completed, with over 2,200 households and organizations cleared and the site handed over to the construction units. During the compensation process, the area along Bach Dang Street in Binh Thanh Ward saw the highest compensation rate in the project, at over VND 280 million per square meter. Chairman Nguyen Van Duoc praised the local authorities for their efforts in mobilizing residents to dismantle their houses and hand over the land by the end of June deadline. He urged contractors to optimize construction methods and avoid extending the timeline. Dau An Phuc, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Infrastructure Construction Investment Project Management Board, stated that the board will work with contractors to develop a detailed schedule. If necessary, work will be accelerated with overtime and additional shifts to expedite the project's completion by the end of 2027. The project is divided into three packages. Package No. 3, covering the area near Van Lang University, commenced construction in May 2025 and is expected to be operational by November this year.
