3 Military Vessels Attacked in Shwegu, 1 Sunk, Remaining 2 Surrender

It is known that a fleet of military vessels, led by the Deputy Commander of the 33rd Division of the Provisional Government Army, which departed from Shwegu, was intercepted and attacked by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) near Zinbon in Shwegu Township, Kachin State, resulting in extensive damage to the military vessels. The military convoy, which was traveling upstream from Shwegu, was attacked by the KIA near Zinbon at approximately 4:20 AM on September 2nd. During the battle, one military vessel sank into the water with many personnel, and another vessel was also damaged. "One vessel completely sank, and people were also lost. Since nightfall, fighter jets from Mandalay have been arriving at intervals of only a few minutes. By morning, they had thinned out," a source told the Irrawaddy Times. Furthermore, another military vessel was damaged near Sinkhan, bringing the total number of damaged military vessels to three. Due to the intense attacks by the KIA, the remaining two military vessels were forced to hoist a white flag and surrender, and some army personnel reportedly jumped into the water to escape. It is known that the damaged military forces carried out shelling using over 20 fighter jets, causing some of the Provisional Government Army personnel to jump into the water and flee in disarray. On August 31st, a military convoy preparing to ascend from Shwegu to Bhamo was intercepted and attacked, and a military outpost in Zinbon was captured.
