Cambodia to Host International Conference on Combating Cyber Fraud; Indian Ambassador Pledges Full Support

Cambodia is scheduled to host the "International Conference on Combating Cyber Fraud" in Phnom Penh from September 23rd to 24th, 2026. This conference aims to strengthen international cooperation in addressing the recent surge in cybercrimes. On July 22nd, 2026, Deputy Minister Santibandith (Special Envoy and Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Committee to Combat Cyber Fraud) met with Mr. Vanlalvawna Bawitlung, the Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Cambodia. During the meeting, Deputy Minister Santibandith commended the strong bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries, highlighting the importance of information exchange and capacity building between India's India's Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) and Cambodia's committee. The Deputy Minister briefed the Indian side on the upcoming international conference and requested India's support and participation in sharing its expertise. In response, Ambassador Bawitlung praised the Cambodian government's proactive efforts and firm measures in combating cyber fraud, as well as its significant attention to the safety and situation of victims. He also expressed his full support for the international conference. Both parties agreed to continue close cooperation, particularly in enhancing the effectiveness of combating cyber fraud through timely information exchange and expert training. This international conference represents Cambodia's effort to bolster its role as a hub for cybercrime counter-measures regionally and internationally. It is also expected to contribute to the stabilization of Cambodia's economy, which is experiencing increased investment from China.
