Cambodia Forecast: Rain, Thunderstorms Expected This Weekend, Affecting 70% of Land Area

Cambodia's Ministry of Water Resources has forecast that from September 22nd to 24th, 70% of the country will experience rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds. This is due to Tropical Cyclone Dujuan, which is strengthening the southwest monsoon affecting the Andaman Sea, Bay of Bengal, South China Sea, Mekong River basin, Cambodian Sea, and the Kingdom of Cambodia. However, the Kingdom of Cambodia is not expected to be directly in the path of Tropical Cyclone Dujuan. The forecast by region is as follows: In the plains, the minimum temperature will be 25°C and the maximum 33°C. Winds from the southwest to northwest are expected to blow at an average speed of 3 meters per second. In Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Poipet, Kampong Chhnang, Siem Reap, Kampong Thom, Kampong Cham, Tbong Khmum, Prey Veng, Svay Rieng, Takeo, Kampot, and Phnom Penh capital, 70% of the land area is likely to experience rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds. In the highlands, the minimum temperature will be 24°C and the maximum 31°C. Winds from the southwest to west are expected to blow at an average speed of 5 meters per second. In Kampong Speu, Pailin, Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Kratié, Stung Treng, Ratanakiri, Mondulkiri, the Dangrek Mountains, and the Cardamom Mountains, 70% of the land area is likely to experience rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds. In coastal areas, the minimum temperature will be 25°C and the maximum 34°C. Winds from the southwest to southeast are expected to blow at an average speed of 3 meters per second. In Koh Kong, Sihanoukville, Kampot, Kep, and the Bokor Mountain area, 60% of the land area is likely to experience rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds. Sea wave heights are expected to range from a minimum of 0.50 meters to a maximum of 1.75 meters.
