Video from Philippines circulated as current situation in Bhamo
A video claiming to depict the current situation in Bhamo, showing KIA allied forces attacking the military junta's troops with heavy weapons, is circulating on social media. A video shared on June 4th from an account named "Doktor Myint" includes the caption, "KIA is destroying Bhamo. What good image is there? Rebels are rebels" (as per original writing), along with footage of a high-rise building with smoke rising after being hit by heavy weapons. The original video's caption states, "Current Bhamo situation. KIA allied forces are giving it to the SAC." Mizzima's fact-checking revealed that the video footage is not from Myanmar. This incident occurred in the Philippines, where the Philippine government forces conducted airstrikes due to armed clashes involving groups linked to extremist organizations. This conflict lasted from May to October 2017 and resulted in numerous civilian casualties. This event has been reported by the BBC and Amnesty International.
