Speaker Dy Launches LegisHear, Bringing Congress Closer to the People
Philippine House Speaker Faustino Dy III launched LegisHear, a nationwide public consultation initiative aimed at bringing Congress closer to communities and ensuring ordinary Filipinos' voices shape national laws.
MANILA, Philippines – Fulfilling his commitment to make the House of Representatives more open, responsive, and accountable, Speaker Faustino “Bojie” G. Dy III on Friday launched LegisHear, a nationwide public consultation initiative that will bring Congress directly to communities across the country to ensure that the voices of ordinary Filipinos help shape the nation’s laws. Speaker Dy said that the initiative aims to make legislation more responsive to the needs and concerns of the people, especially those in the provinces. “LegisHear is our way of bringing Congress closer to the people. We want to hear directly from you, our constituents, about the issues that matter most to you. Your voices will guide us as we craft laws that will benefit our nation,” Dy said during the launch event. The program will involve various activities such as town hall meetings, public hearings, and online consultations, allowing for broad participation from different sectors of society. Dy added that the House of Representatives is committed to transparency and good governance, and LegisHear is a testament to this commitment. “We believe that by actively engaging the public in the legislative process, we can create laws that are more effective, relevant, and reflective of the true aspirations of the Filipino people,” he said. The initiative is expected to foster a stronger connection between Congress and the citizenry, promoting greater public trust and participation in democratic processes.
