Cambodia Seeks to Modernize Meteorological Information System with French Agency
Cambodian Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology, Tang Cheth, met with the Regional Director of France's Meteo-France International (MFI) to discuss the modernization of the country's meteorological information system. The current system, operational since 2011, faces challenges with outdated hardware and software, necessitating technical assessment and modernization support.
On the afternoon of Wednesday, September 23, 2026, H.E. Tang Cheth, Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology, received Mr. David BOUSIGUE, Regional Director of Meteo-France International (MFI), for a working meeting on modernizing Cambodia's meteorological information system at the Ministry's meeting hall. Meteo-France International (MFI), headquartered in Toulouse, France, is a long-term technical partner supporting the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, particularly the Department of Meteorology, in relation to Cambodia's meteorological information system, covering both hardware and software. H.E. the Minister stated that Cambodia's meteorological information system has been operational since 2011. Currently, some parts of the system, including hardware, server infrastructure, and software, have become obsolete, which could lead to ongoing challenges. H.E. the Minister requested Meteo-France International to conduct further technical assessments for the modernization of the existing meteorological information system.
