US Business Group Praises Cambodia's Resolve Against Online Scams

Brian McFeeters, Chairman of the US-ASEAN Business Council, has expressed high praise and appreciation for the Cambodian government's active efforts, including those of the Ministry of Interior, to eradicate online scams, describing the operation as a "tremendous effort." The remarks were made during a working meeting between McFeeters, leading a delegation from the US-ASEAN Business Council, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sar Sokha at the Ministry of Interior on the afternoon of July 21, 2026. On behalf of the US-ASEAN Business Council delegation, he thanked the leadership, relevant authorities, and forces of the Cambodian Ministry of Interior for consistently fostering a favorable environment that instills confidence and a sense of security for American companies operating in Cambodia. In response, Sar Sokha thanked the US-ASEAN Business Council delegation for their encouraging assessment. He informed the American business delegation that, as the government's chief strategist, the Ministry of Interior remains resolutely committed to eradicating online scams, emphasizing that this crime is a burden that must be resolved. The head of the Ministry of Interior highlighted recent achievements, stating that Cambodian authorities have cleared nearly 100 percent of large-scale scam networks, and Cambodian law enforcement is currently continuing to dismantle smaller groups. It was also reported that over 300,000 foreign nationals have voluntarily departed or been repatriated to their home countries. Representatives from various companies took the opportunity to express their interest in their investment experiences in Cambodia and their outlook for further potential business expansion. Regarding this, the Minister of Interior affirmed the Ministry of Interior's readiness to support and facilitate such investments to ensure they proceed smoothly and prosper on Cambodian soil. He also expressed his expectation that the US-ASEAN Business Council delegation would help disseminate widely what they have observed and understood firsthand in Cambodia, particularly the country's efforts to ensure security and safety and to facilitate investment without discrimination.
