Cambodia Soft Tennis Federation Elects New Leadership, Outlines 5-Year Development Plan

The Cambodia Soft Tennis Federation convened its General Assembly to elect the leadership for the new term spanning 2026-2030. The assembly, held in Phnom Penh, saw Mr. Sor Sithi re-elected as president. Following his re-election, President Sor Sithi unveiled five pivotal directives designed to propel the sport's advancement. In his address, President Sor Sithi underscored the dual role of soft tennis, highlighting its capacity not only to foster health and camaraderie but also to serve as a potent instrument for elevating national prestige on the global stage. While acknowledging the commendable efforts and past successes of Cambodian coaches and athletes, he stressed the imperative of sustained and dynamic development to navigate the increasingly competitive and sophisticated landscape of modern sports. The five key directives outlined by President Sor Sithi are as follows: 1. Enhancing Governance and Management Mechanisms: The federation will focus on refining its organizational structure to ensure greater efficiency and clarity in the division of responsibilities between the leadership and specialized working groups. 2. Expanding Outreach and Nurturing Future Talent: To broaden the sport's public recognition, comprehensive promotional campaigns will be launched across various platforms, including social media, television, and direct engagement in educational institutions. Collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport will be pursued to integrate or establish soft tennis programs within schools and universities, thereby identifying and cultivating promising young athletes. 3. Elevating the Technical Proficiency of Coaches and Referees: The development of coaches equipped with international-standard expertise is a priority. The federation will place significant emphasis on facilitating overseas training opportunities for coaches and referees, as well as inviting foreign experts to share their knowledge. Staying abreast of updated competition rules and modern training methodologies is deemed critical. 4. Developing Sports Infrastructure and Equipment: A strong focus will be placed on the quality of playing fields and sports equipment. The federation plans to develop a clear strategy for the maintenance and expansion of standard-compliant training and competition venues. Furthermore, efforts will be made to secure private sector involvement through strategic partnerships and sponsorship arrangements. 5. Increasing Domestic Competitive Opportunities: The federation aims to organize a robust schedule of competitions, ranging from youth and school-level events to national championships. A rich domestic competition calendar will enable athletes to benchmark their skills, mitigate performance anxiety, and accumulate valuable on-court experience. Concurrently, opportunities will be sought to dispatch skilled athletes to participate in international friendly matches and tournaments. President Sor Sithi concluded by emphasizing that the successful implementation of these directives hinges on the collective solidarity and unwavering commitment of all federation members. He expressed strong confidence that the newly elected leadership, imbued with fresh energy, a forward-looking vision, and astute strategies, will steer the federation towards remarkable achievements. The new leadership committee consists of 35 members. Mr. Sor Sithi serves as president, Mr. Sor Sokun as first vice-president, and Mr. Yit Phirak as secretary-general, supported by deputy secretaries-general, vice-presidents, and numerous committee members.
