Hue–Phong Nha Tourist Train Set to Launch in September

The central province of Quang Tri is collaborating with the Vietnam Railways Corporation (VRC) to finalize a new tourist train route linking Hue and Phong Nha. This project is expected to create a distinctive railway tourism product connecting major cultural heritage sites and scenic destinations across Vietnam's north-central region, thereby strengthening regional tourism connectivity. The Hue–Da Nang route, in particular, is positioned not merely as transportation but as a cultural journey along one of central Vietnam’s most scenic corridors. Branded as the “Central Heritage Connection Journey,” this train, following comprehensive upgrades, is anticipated to become a must-experience tourism product by 2026. This initiative is viewed as part of Vietnam's efforts to promote tourism and develop infrastructure under its one-party system. In recent years, the country has focused on leveraging its domestic tourism resources and enhancing international competitiveness, aiming to balance heritage conservation with tourism development. Furthermore, this project may also serve as a strategy to diversify tourism routes and strengthen economic ties within the region, potentially reducing reliance on any single country, particularly given Vietnam's close ties with China.
