Cambodian People's Party Admits 1,300 New Members from Education Sector

On the afternoon of Saturday, September 5, 2026, the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) Committee of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, in cooperation with the Central Youth Party's Educational Institutions Department, organized a ceremony to officially admit 1,300 students and educators as members of the Cambodian People's Party. These new members come from four basic party committees affiliated with the CPP Committee of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, namely the National University of Management, the Royal University of Law and Economics, the National Institute of Education, and the Phnom Penh Teacher Training College. The ceremony was presided over by His Excellency Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, a Standing Member of the CPP Central Committee and Chairman of the CPP Committee of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport. Also in attendance were His Excellency Som Soeun, a Standing Member of the CPP Central Committee and Chairman of the CPP Central Organization Committee, along with other party officials, representatives from affiliated departments, deputy heads of departments, members of the educational institutions' party committees, deputy chairmen, and members of the CPP Committee of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, as well as the support team from the Central Youth Party's educational institutions department. The event took place at the CPP Headquarters (January 7 Building). This membership drive by the CPP, Cambodia's dominant political party, is seen as a strategic move to consolidate its influence among the youth and educated segments of the population. The significant intake from educational institutions highlights the party's focus on shaping future leaders and disseminating its ideology through the education system. The CPP has been in power for decades, and such efforts are indicative of its continuous strategy to strengthen its political base across all societal strata.
