Two Chinese Men Arrested in Cambodia for Alleged $4,800 Foreign Exchange Theft

In Kampong Speu province, Cambodia, two elderly Chinese men have been arrested on suspicion of defrauding a foreign exchange shop of $4,800. The investigating judge of the Kampong Speu Provincial Court has ordered the temporary detention of the two suspects and their transfer to the provincial prison. Prosecutors intend to charge both individuals, identified as Peng Chan GFA, male, born in 1974, and Long Zhelan, male, born in 1978, with theft. If found guilty, they could face imprisonment ranging from six months to three years. The two suspects were apprehended by police on July 29, 2026, at approximately 2:30 PM in Ang Metrey village, Rulang Krul commune, Samrong Tong district. They allegedly used trickery to steal $4,800 from the shop owner before attempting to flee on a motorcycle. Following their arrest, police confiscated the following evidence: $4,800 in cash, 320 Euros, 13 Malaysian Ringgit, one Janus motorcycle, two jackets, one screwdriver, and two black smartphones (one Realme and one Vivo). During questioning after their arrest, the two elderly Chinese men confessed to having committed similar acts twice before their apprehension, though they could not recall the specific locations.
