Vietnam's Airlines Shine in Global 'Cleanest Airlines' Rankings

Singapore Airlines and Malaysia Airlines have been recognized among the world's cleanest airlines in Skytrax's 2026 ranking of the top 20 cleanest airlines globally. The survey, conducted by the aviation assessment organization Skytrax, involved over 24 million passengers. Singapore Airlines secured the second position, following Taiwan's Starlux Airlines. Its evaluation was based on hygiene standards and quality within the passenger cabin, including the condition of seats, dining tables, carpets, panels, and lavatories. Malaysia Airlines ranked 11th. Singapore Airlines stated that it maintains hygiene and disinfection standards through intensive aircraft cleaning processes, applying antimicrobial coatings on frequently touched surfaces, and washing linens at high temperatures. The airline also plans to invest SGD 1.1 billion (USD 834 million) to upgrade all seat classes on its 41 long-haul and ultra-long-haul Airbus A350-900 aircraft by the end of 2030, according to Reuters. Malaysia Airlines highlighted its focus on cabin cleanliness and passenger comfort, noting the use of lightweight materials and modern seats in its new cabins. The Skytrax World Airline Awards are annual accolades based on global passenger reviews, often referred to as the 'Oscars of the aviation industry.' Other categories include best airlines worldwide and by region, best economy class meals, and best cabin crew. The 2026 survey was conducted from September 2025 to August 2026, with passengers from over 100 nationalities evaluating more than 325 airlines. The results were announced on September 18.
