In Myanmar's Bago Region, it has been learned that chicken is being sold through a system that bypasses intermediaries and sells directly from producers to consumers, enabling consumers to purchase chicken at more affordable prices. It has been learned that the direct sales system, which reduces intermediaries and aims to alleviate the living conditions of consumers in the Bago Region, involves purchasing and distributing local chicken and CP chicken directly from farmers to consumers under the guidance of the regional government and the supervision of the municipal committee. The current prices are 18,400 kyats per viss for wholesale CP chicken and 20,500 kyats per viss for retail, and 23,000 kyats per viss for wholesale local chicken and 25,000 kyats per viss for retail. Sales are being arranged for easy daily purchase by the general public in the major markets of Bago, Pyay, Toungoo, and Thayarwady districts, according to an official from the Bago Region Municipal Committee. "The market price for chicken is around 30,000 kyats per viss. The chicken sold directly now costs just over 20,000 kyats per viss, which is about 10,000 kyats cheaper per viss than the market price. However, it can only be purchased at the designated selling points, and not everywhere. If it could be purchased at this direct sales price everywhere, it would be convenient for all consumers. We also want measures to be taken to control the high price of chicken in the external market. This way, all low-income families will be able to buy and consume chicken fairly and affordably," said a housewife from Toungoo city. It has been learned that the direct sale of local and CP chicken from farmers to consumers, bypassing intermediaries, is being sold daily in Bago, Pyay, Toungoo, and Thayarwady districts within the Bago Region. Sales are also taking place at the Baho Kone Sein Tharmine Market, Ussa Phyuin Si Market, Konthaya Thanaphet Market, and Bago Sin That Market in Bago city; the Kosaung Market, Myothit Market, and Aungmingalar Market in Pyay city; the Bayintnaung Market, Nyaungpinlay Market, and Bago Market in Toungoo city; and at designated markets within Thayarwady district.
