VP Duterte to attend arraignment on grave threats charges Friday

Vice President Sara Duterte will physically attend her arraignment at the Quezon City Regional Trial Court on Friday in connection with three counts of grave threats filed against her by the Department of Justice (DOJ). Defense spokesman Michael Poa confirmed that the Vice President's attendance is mandatory during the arraignment, where she will be required to enter a plea. Duterte had previously posted P360,000 in bail for the three counts of grave threats, which were directed at President Marcos, First Lady Liza Marcos, and former speaker Martin Romualdez. Poa accompanied Duterte when she posted bail before the Quezon City RTC Branch 98. Meanwhile, Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla hinted that Duterte's camp had initially sought arrangements for her arrest and detention at Camp Crame, inquiring about detention conditions, including food, before ultimately proceeding to court to post bail. Poa declined to comment on this aspect. Remulla suggested that Duterte's team might have been aiming to create imagery of the Vice President behind bars and in handcuffs. Poa stated he has yet to discuss with Duterte whether he will accompany her during the arraignment.
