PAN Affirms Continued Alliance with President Prabowo, Citing Shared Ideals After Three Elections

JAKARTA - Chairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN) Zulkifli Hasan has reaffirmed that his party will continue to stand with President Prabowo Subianto. Hasan stated that PAN's relationship with Prabowo has endured through three presidential elections and is not solely based on the interests of forming a government. Hasan made these remarks on Friday, September 18, 2026, during the 28th anniversary celebration of PAN held at JICC Senayan, Jakarta. "PAN will continue to be with the President. Because we have the same ideals of struggle," Hasan declared in front of Prabowo and PAN cadres. Hasan reflected on the political journey with Prabowo, noting it was not always smooth. He mentioned that PAN remained steadfast in its support even after experiencing defeat in two previous presidential elections. "We lost twice, but now we are happy to win," he said. The decision to remain allied with Prabowo was not merely a matter of political calculation, Hasan emphasized. PAN appreciates shared perspectives, particularly concerning Articles 33 and 34 of the 1945 Constitution, and consideration for specific community groups deemed in need of state support. Hasan also recalled a time when political support for Prabowo was not as substantial as it is today. He revealed visiting Prabowo during his tenure as Minister of Defense to convey PAN's commitment to remain united, even if the Gerindra Party had to proceed alone. According to Hasan, the alignment of values is the fundamental reason why PAN continues to support Prabowo's political trajectory up to the current administration.
