Korean Medical Team Provides Free Healthcare to Over 3,200 in Kampong Thom

Kampong Thom, Cambodia – July 26, 2026 – The Asian Cultural Council (ACC) announced on July 26, 2026, the results of free health check-ups and treatments provided to residents of Kampong Thom province by a volunteer medical team from Gyeongsangbuk-do, Republic of Korea. This initiative was part of the "Member of Parliament for People's Health Program" held at Kampong Provincial Referral Hospital from July 24-25, 2026. Through cooperation between Gyeongsangbuk-do province, Republic of Korea, and the Asian Cultural Council (ACC), the volunteer medical association from Gyeongsangbuk-do provided free medical examinations and treatments to the people of Kampong Thom province during the "Member of Parliament for People's Health Program" over two days, from July 24-25, 2026. The event was held at Kampong Thom Provincial Referral Hospital in collaboration with the Provincial Administration, Provincial Health Department, the Provincial Parliamentarian's Office, and the People's Health Council Association. Volunteer youth from the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC), the Red Cross, and the New Village Movement Fund also participated. On July 25, 2026, His Excellency Suos Yara, Member of Parliament for Kampong Thom province and President of the ACC, and His Excellency Ong Vuthy, Deputy Governor of Kampong Thom province, representing His Excellency Noun Pharat, Governor of Kampong Thom Provincial Administration, met with residents receiving healthcare services. They also inspected the medical examination and treatment activities to understand the practical needs and encourage the continued development of healthcare services for the community. During the two days of examinations and treatments, the volunteer medical association from Gyeongsangbuk-do, led by Dr. Lee Gilho, provided medical services to approximately 3,200 residents. Services included general medicine, dentistry, gastroscopy, gynecology, pediatrics, ophthalmology, acupuncture, and blood tests, utilizing modern medical equipment and providing free medication to ensure quality and effective treatment. In addition to medical services, the volunteer medical team from Gyeongsangbuk-do also distributed humanitarian aid to children and residents, including school supplies, children's clothing, toys, toothpaste and toothbrushes, medical supplies, and other essential items. Since 2013, the "Member of Parliament for People's Health Program" has become a meaningful humanitarian initiative under the cooperation between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Republic of Korea, as well as between Gyeongsangbuk-do province and Kampong Thom province. This program has been spearheaded by His Excellency Vongsey Vissoth, Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Government Working Group for Kampong Thom Province, who has facilitated the provision of free healthcare services and continuous donations of medical equipment to Cambodia. This humanitarian activity has significantly contributed to humanitarian efforts and the promotion of public welfare, in line with the "Health Strategic Plan 2025-2034" under the wise leadership of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
