Vietnam Hands Over Over 470 Tons of Rice Produced in Cuba

Vietnam's Thai Binh Group has handed over its first batch of over 470 tons of rice produced in Cuba to local partners. This handover demonstrates the effectiveness of cooperation in the high-tech agricultural sector between companies of the two nations, contributing to the realization of Vietnam's policies to strengthen economic and investment cooperation and ensure food security. This project is positioned as part of the strategic cooperation in the agricultural sector between Vietnam and Cuba. In the past, an agricultural cooperation project worth over 50 million USD was signed in Cuba, and 1,200 tons and 250 tons of rice produced in Vietnam were supplied to Cuba. These collaborations aim not only to supply goods but also to improve Cuba's agricultural production capacity and food self-sufficiency through the transfer of Vietnam's agricultural technology and know-how, as well as cooperation in the biotechnology sector. Under its one-party system, Vietnam has achieved economic growth and diversified its international relations. Relations with Cuba are particularly valued as a strategic partnership, not only due to their historical background as socialist countries but also because they share common challenges in economic development and food security. Amidst complex relations with China, Vietnam also appears to aim at strengthening its own food supply chain and maintaining or expanding its influence in South America.
