Battambang Police Arrest Suspect in Large-Scale Solar Cable Theft
Battambang provincial police in Cambodia have arrested a suspect in connection with the theft of approximately 7,000 meters of solar panel cables. Authorities launched an investigation following a company complaint, leading to the apprehension of the alleged perpetrator. The stolen cables were recovered and returned to the company.
In Ratanamondal district, Battambang province, western Cambodia, police have arrested a man for allegedly stealing approximately 7,000 meters of solar panel cables. The incident occurred on July 26 at the "Battambang Concrete Cement" factory in Stoeung commune, Ratanamondal district. The operation was conducted under the orders of Battambang Provincial Police Commissioner and directly led by the acting chief of Ratanamondal District Police, in cooperation with the Stoeung commune police post. Following a complaint from the company, authorities immediately launched an investigation, leading to the arrest of the suspect, Pruom Vit, 36 years old. Seized evidence included 7,060 meters of solar cables, one flashlight, one plier, one machete, and three sacks. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to having broken into the factory three times since July 22, 2026, to cut and steal the cables. Currently, the suspect has been sent to the specialized department for legal proceedings. The recovered solar cables have been returned to the company representative by the police.
