Senate Delegation Praises Battambang Province's Progress and Development
A Cambodian Senate delegation visited Battambang province to assess progress, law enforcement, and challenges in administration and local development. Provincial authorities reported achievements in infrastructure, tourism facilities, large-scale agriculture/energy projects, and land titling. The delegation highly praised the rapid transformation and socio-economic development.
The 9th Commission delegation of the Cambodian Senate, led by its Chairman H.E. Oum Sarith, paid a warm visit to Pursat province on the morning of September 3rd to understand the progress, law enforcement, and various challenges in administration and local development. The delegation was warmly welcomed by H.E. Mok Ra, Chairman of the Provincial Council, and H.E. Khoy Rydah, Governor of Pursat Province. H.E. Khoy Rydah expressed his gratitude and warmest welcome to the Senate delegation. He highlighted numerous significant achievements the province has made under the wise leadership of the Prime Minister, in line with the "Rectangular Strategy Phase I." Key accomplishments reported by the provincial administration include: * Development of riverbanks, organized public spaces for citizens, a tree-planting campaign of over 110,000 trees, installation of solar streetlights along public roads from the Kampong Chhnang provincial border to Battambang, and street pavement improvements. * Planning for the "Tepp Uknhar Khleng Muong" garden and construction of the "Win-Win Monument" in Lolok Sar commune to commemorate ancestors and attract tourists. * A 1,000-hectare dairy and beef farm project, a 50MW biomass power plant, a 40MW solar power plant, and other processing factories by KPS company (5,000 hectares) in Veal Veng district. * The province has 6 power stations (3 hydropower and 3 solar), 11 large factories with an investment of over $163 million, creating jobs for more than 6,000 citizens, and nearly 300 small and medium enterprises. * Distribution of over 330,000 land ownership certificates to citizens province-wide, and continued land registration in Zone 1 and Zone 2 of Tonle Sap Lake. In response, H.E. Oum Sarith expressed his deep gratitude for the warm reception and the detailed report from the Pursat Provincial Administration. He stated that the mission was to inspect and follow up on law enforcement and understand the reality of public service delivery to citizens within the commission's purview. Concurrently, H.E. Oum Sarith expressed his admiration and high evaluation of the efforts by the leadership of the Pursat Provincial Administration under H.E. Khoy Rydah, which has rapidly transformed the province, ensuring security, public order, and remarkable socio-economic development. The commission chairman also provided recommendations to the provincial administration and relevant departments to continue strengthening law enforcement, improving public service delivery for greater efficiency, and promptly responding to the needs of local citizens. The meeting concluded in a friendly atmosphere, yielding fruitful results. The Senate delegation recorded all requests and challenges to compile and report to the Senate leadership, aiming to support and further promote the development of Pursat province in the future.
